Building Engineer

• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on architectural elements including carpentry, patching, painting, and lock repairs
• Ensure building systems and operations comply with OSHA, EPA, and fire safety regulations
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance or repair tasks

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational/technical school or military training preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in building maintenance, engineering, or a related field, preferably in industrial, office, or retail spaces
• Relevant certifications highly desirable (e.g., City of Chicago Stationary Engineer, Boiler Operator, EPA Refrigerant)
• Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems
