Patient Access Specialist

Job Description

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by resolving patient concerns, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and ensuring accurate data entry in compliance with HIPAA
  • Communicate effectively across departments to coordinate patient care, collect necessary referrals and authorizations, and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment
  • Utilize multiple systems including Epic and online verification tools to confirm orders, check eligibility, and document detailed handoffs for seamless patient processing
  • Identify and escalate complex or extraordinary issues to leadership, participate in quality assurance reviews, and apply service recovery techniques to resolve breakdowns
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements, mentoring new staff, adapting to changing healthcare policies, and meeting quality and efficiency standards

Skills & Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of call center or healthcare administration experience is required
  • Must be able to type 40 WPM required
  • Experience with Epic software is preferred
  • Relevant soft skills include communication, organization, and discretion
