Public Safety Officer

Job Description

  • Supervise and evaluate public safety coordinators, including assigning tasks, reviewing performance, and recommending disciplinary actions
  • Coordinate scheduling and assign overtime as needed to ensure adequate coverage
  • Monitor communications dispatch, CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and radio traffic for UC Medicine public safety operations
  • Communicate with UCPD dispatch during emergencies and coordinate responses to incidents and service calls
  • Assign incident report numbers and maintain radio contact with personnel to ensure safety and proper documentation

Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in security or law enforcement required (in a healthcare setting is a plus)
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and active PERC card
  • Ability to obtain IAHSS Certification within 90 days
  • Successful candidates must complete UCM-provided security training and certifications (e.g., CPR, CPI, Defensive Tactics) within 180 days
