Standing Out: How Amiracle Went from Invisible to Invincible

Amiracle grew up on the Southeast side of Chicago on 63rd Street, with a view of the city’s high-rises that inspired her dreams of a successful career. Despite her aspirations, she faced significant challenges. Coming from a family where no one had a college degree, she sought the guidance and support to navigate her path. After graduating high school, Amiracle found herself unsure of her next steps. She applied for a wide range of jobs and ended up working in retail, security, and food service. These jobs provided for her immediate needs, but she knew she wanted more for herself and her young children.

As a mother, Amiracle felt a deep responsibility to set a strong example for her boys. Her desire to build a better future led her to Cara Collective, where she received valuable advice and resources which included a referral to attend an informational session with Skills for Chicagoland’s Future. During her first meeting with Skills, she presented a resume in large pink font, believing it would help her stand out. This was a testament to her creativity and tenacity. The team at Skills saw her potential and worked closely with her to refine her resume, practice interview techniques, and connect her with additional services.

With Skills’ support, Amiracle’s journey took a positive turn. She secured an apprenticeship at Aon in their cybersecurity department, a role that aligned with her dreams of working in one of those high-rises she had always admired. Now, Amiracle can provide better for her children and is pursuing further education. Her story is a powerful example of resilience and determination, showing that with the right support and resources, it’s possible to overcome obstacles and achieve one’s dreams. Amiracle’s future is brighter, not just for herself, but for her entire family.
